Could I suggest a freeing truth? Will you prayerfully consider a truth that will give you strength and power to live the daily Christian life? The armor of God is Christ Himself. It’s not that we put on all the many truths found in the Bible. It’s not that we faithfully strive for and commit to holy acts of righteousness in our daily lives. Nor is it that we diligently study the gospel message so we will be prepared to witness. It’s not that we purpose each morning to grab our faith shield and put on our salvation helmet before crawling out of bed. We do not achieve victory by memorizing key verses so we can pull out our Sword and do battle. I say again, the armor of God is Christ Himself.
Christ is the essence of all truth. Christ is perfect righteousness. Christ is the gospel of hope. Christ is the object of and personification of perfect faith. Christ is the only salvation available for humankind. Christ is the incarnate Word who became flesh—full of grace and truth. Christ has made it possible for every believer to have direct access to the throne of God. Christ has defeated and destroyed the adversary once and for all.
So be strong in the Lord. Be strong in the power of His might. Purpose to know Him. Purpose to love Him. Purpose to follow Him. Victory is already ours, believer.
