This means we are patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of
others. When someone is offensive, do you “suffer long” or do you
quickly react? In other words, love backs away and allows God time to
work in a person’s life without injecting our own will. Love does not
give up or lose heart quickly. I am so thankful Jesus never gives up
on me. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9).
