The children of Israel had sinned against God. As a result, God sent poisonous snakes to judge them. As a way to escape death, God instructed Moses to wrap a brazen serpant around a pole and lift it up for the people to see. All who looked in faith, believing, lived. [See Numbers 21.] Christ has taken our judgment. He hung on the cross for our sin. All who look to Him in faith, live. Look and live! Believe. “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life”(John 3:14-15).
