”For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Here, grace is defined. Not only for salvation, but at all times. Never of yourself. Always the gift of God. Never of works. In other words, grace is unearned favor. Always! Even when, especially when, we sin. What an amazing gift! Does this fact constrain us to sin? To live it up? To trod under foot the blood of Jesus? Or does it constrain us to love and follow our LORD? Once we truly and fully understand God’s grace, it changes our behavior. Not of yourself. A gift. Not of works.
