Ever learning?

I am shocked, to say the least! Not at the outcome of the elections, I expected that. Although my particular candidate did not win, I will pray fervently for our new President elect. We have a Christian responsibility to do so. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority ; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” (1 Timothy 2:1-5). We should specifically pray according to the perfect will of God as revealed to us in His Holy Word. Of course, in order to know God’s heart, you need to take your Bible, dust it off, and prayerfully read it!

So exactly what am I shocked about regarding this election? The massive group of college age young people who do not have a burning zeal or a tender heart for the things of God, troubles me. First, let me say that no one is the perfect candidate. So I am not attempting to sanctify our government. I realize we do not live in a theocracy. But I am amazed that someone could be so far removed from God, that they would elect a person into office who endorses the “murder ” of a precious, living baby boy or girl who is in the safety of their mother’s womb! “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb

watch the company men online watch the company men online

” (Psalms 139:13).

I am grieved that our nation has drifted so far from righteousness as found in the truth of God’s written word, that there would be a movement to legalize marriage between two sodomites. A man with a man or a woman with a woman! “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet” (Romans 1:24-27).

I fully expect the lost people of this world to act lost. I fully expect the spiritually blind to teach false doctrine and promote their damnable laws. “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words

make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not” (2 Peter 2:1-3). Of course, if you do not possess an abiding relationship with Jesus, you’ll lack spiritual perception and discernment.

I say again, I fully expect those who are living in darkness to blindly endorse the deeds of darkness, but the redeemed? Those who now profess to be in the light? Will they turn from truth? “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12).

I am deeply disturbed and burdened that those who “confess they believe” that Jesus Christ died for their sins, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day, reject clear Biblical truth regarding what type of persons should be leading our country. Remember, some new members of the Supreme Court will be appointed during the next four years, and they will change the laws and the course of this nation. Will they be men or women who vehemently support Biblical truth regarding life in the womb and marriage between one man and one woman? It depends on who appoints them, doesn’t it?

I have no doubt that God is in control. My faith is not in man or a particular political party. God allowed our nation to make its choice, just like He allowed the Nation of Israel to make their choice when they wanted a King to rule them instead of God. That is not the issue. I am asking every Christian who may be reading this article, why would you vote for someone who does not support life in the womb and the sanctity of marriage between a man and woman?

Do you honestly believe that Jesus Christ has led you to vote for someone who is so adamantly opposed to divine scripture regarding the sanctity of life in the womb, and marriage between a man and a woman as the only God ordained union?

Many have turned this election into a matter of race. (On both sides.) I remember the 1960’s. How black human beings were hated, segregated, and prevented from holding certain jobs. That’s sin! God detests it! I can honestly tell you that I do not care about the color of a man’s skin. I see people as human beings, created in the image of God. It is obvious, that many people in this country are so deeply hurt, bitter, angry, and wounded, that this years election has become a “black” verses “white” issue. If that’s your motivation, you are wrong. You need to allow Jesus Christ, (who was a Jew by the way) to set you free from sinful prejudice and begin loving your neighbor as you do yourself. But loving our neighbor does not demand that we always agree with or support our neighbor. This is the real issue. As Christians, we should elect those whose policy is closest to scriptural truth. The color of a man’s skin has nothing to do with the truth.

Wake up! “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:13-17).

Are you guilty of, “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7). Do you believe the word of God? Be careful. “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:21-23).

Believe the truth. Jesus is truth and you’ll find His perfect will in the written word of God. Love Jesus Christ, He will direct your paths; including your politics.

First of all, you have a really nice blog.

But, as I was reading it, I can’t help but offer my perspective on the matter.

Obama stated that he DOES NOT support gay marriage. However, he does support civil unions for GLBT couples. That makes a big difference. But judging from your article, I am assuming that you would also like to see civil unions done away with. I am sad to report, that is not possible. GLBT people have a right to reject your position on this matter just as much as you have the right to reject theirs. But they have the right to lead their lives the way they see fit. And they need some legal rights to be with the people they love. You don’t have to accept it or embrace it. But at least let them have some legal rights granted by civil unions to live normal lives.

I am sadden by the recent elections where three states have banned gay marriage. And I am also sad to say that Obama INDIRECTLY supported the bans on gay marriage. The majority of african-american voters who went to the polls to support Obama, said no to gay marriage. I thought I needed to clarify Obama’s position on gay marriage.

Another assumption that you made, is that Christians who voted for Obama are blind spiritually or don’t have a close relationship to Jesus. Why is it that when Christians are voting for candidates because of one issue close to their heart that they are doing the right thing and rescuing this nation from damnation, but when I vote for a candidate because of his position on GLBT issues, I am labeled a radical with an agenda or as a part of a special interest group? Its wrong to vote for a candidate, in my opinion for just one issue, when you need to consider all their positions. I know of Christians who voted for Obama because they realized that although they disagree with his stance on “moral” issues, that they realized he would be the better candidate in governing the nation. And they are real followers of Christ, who love God and their neighbor. Take the many voters who voted for Obama, but voted against gay marriage in their states.

I hope you consider this. I am not trying to change your views. But realize that Obama’s election doesn’t necessairly point to a decline in spiritual or moral values. I don’t know why Obama is our new President, but I know God will work through all of this for the good of those who love Him.

    A response to Magdiel’s comment…

Thank you for saying, “you have a really nice blog.” I hope you keep visiting and benefit from its content, even though you may not always agree.

Yes, this is an issue we’ll need to graciously disagree on. Please know my heart in the matter. The article I wrote is not a “protest” of what I want to change, but rather a clarification and “endorsement” of what God has already clearly said to us in His word. God’s word says the, as you say, “GLBT people” have “changed the truth of God into a lie…served the creature more than the Creator…that God gave them up unto vile affections…that they burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly.” My opinion, therefore, is based solely on what the Holy Scriptures teach. In saying that, I am not claiming personal perfection or superior love for Jesus over somebody else. I have disobeyed Him often.

Do I disagree 100% with everything President Obama stands for, of course not. Will I pray for him as my President, of course I will. But in my opinion, as a Christian who believes that the Bible is the written word of God, these key issues helped me decide which person I voted for.

The men and women who are elected to public office will have the responsibility of appointing new Supreme Court Justices that will shape the laws of our land. Legalizing abortion is clear evidence of why this is so important. The Consequences of Roe v. Wade? 48,589,993 total Abortions since 1973. That’s 48,589,993 million!

God is clear on the “union” of a man with a man, or a woman with a woman. There is nothing civil, moral, or Godly about it.

In March 2007, Obama initially avoided answering questions about a controversial statement by a U.S. general that “homosexual acts” are “immoral,” but Obama later told CNN’s Larry King, “I don’t think that homosexuals are immoral any more than I think heterosexuals are immoral.” Wow!

You wrote, “It’s wrong to vote for a candidate, in my opinion for just one issue, when you need to consider all their positions.” I agree with you. And I know each Christian needs to simply love Jesus, consider the positions of each candidate, and prayerfully vote as Jesus Christ directs them.

You concluded, “…but I know God will work through all of this for the good of those who love Him.” Amen to that!

    Thanks for your response :)

Again, I am going to have to disagree with you on one point. I did not watch the interview with Larry King, but I think what Obama meant by his comment is that homosexuals still lead moral and meaningful lives. You might not agree with the lifestyle. But the homosexuals I know try to lead meaningful and moral lives by contributing to the community, helping others, participating in civic life, and being moral in matters of business and social life. Some homosexuals, like myself, are spiritually-minded and are active in church and religious life. Sadly, yes, most GLBT people shun religion, particularly Christianity, because of its history of excluding our group. But saying that all homosexuals are immoral is inaccurate.

Response to Magdiel’s comment on 11/13…

The truth of any matter, especially regarding a particular lifestyle, is clearly established in the Bible. Here’s the real crux of the matter. As a Christian, do you believe God’s word is the final authority regarding life choices? If not, then we simply need to disagree and move on. If so, you must reconsider your opinion based on God’s word if you’re serious about following Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Please know that I am sincerely attempting to speak the truth in love. And I have done my best to “rightly divide the written word of God” to support my opinions.

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:” (Ephesians 4:15).

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16).

I do not doubt the honesty and sincerity of your statement when you said: “But the homosexuals I know try to lead meaningful and moral lives by contributing to the community, helping others, participating in civic life, and being moral in matters of business and social life.”

I’m sure your right when it concerns “…contributing to the community, helping others, participating in civic life, and being moral in matters of business and social life.” But, according to Holy Scripture, a person cannot be “moral” when two men or two women are involved a relationship beyond friendship. It is true that God has given every human being a “free will” to choose. But as a true Christian, I’m sure you would agree that we should endeavor to obey and submit to the established will of God which is given to us in Holy Scripture and that we should make choices accordingly.

We do not determine what right or wrong behavior is; God does. We may not always agree with God, but His word is the final authority. I admit, some passages of scripture are very difficult to understand, but, if you’re honest, the ones I reference are not. What does the word of God say in regards to the divinely established lifestyle choices we are discussing? We all have personal opinions, but what is God’s opinion based on His established word?

“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from “man,” made he a “woman,” and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a “man” leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his “wife:” and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:21-24).

“For this cause shall a “man” leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his “wife,” and they two shall be one flesh” (Ephesians 5:31).

On the other hand, God’s word clearly speaks against two individuals of the same gender living together as a husband and a wife do. This is the real issue. What does God say in His written word of truth?

”Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Romans 1:21-32).

I hope to never post “my opinion” without clear Biblical support of why I believe it. Unless you have Biblical support for what you think or feel is right, I simply will not be persuaded.

    Forrest
