Love…beareth all things
The word “beareth” literally means to cover over with silence. It means to keep secret, hide, or conceal a matter. Often, whenever we discover the shortcomings of someone else we can hardly wait to “leak” the news to our dearest and closest friends. Whenever you start a conversation with: “You promise not to tell anyone what I’m about to tell you?” there is usually no good that will come from it.
Personally, I’m grateful that my sins are forgiven. As Corrie Ten Boom once said, “They are now cast into the deepest sea, and a sign is put up that says, NO FISHING ALLOWED.” Aren’t you grateful that Jesus covers our sin with silence? “And above all things have fervent charity [love] among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8).
