Not by Works of Righteousness
“What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found? For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness” (Romans 4:1-3).
Genuine faith in Christ results in righteousness. Imputed, not earned. The gift of God to those who believe.
Beware of religious organizations that teach we are justified by our good works or our good deeds. Constantly talking about, focusing on, and pushing good works in order to merit God’s favor.
Jesus Christ is the only person who satisfies the just and holy demands of God! We merit the favor of God based solely on the finished work of Christ. The just shall live by faith.
